DESCRIPTION:

The thermal fuse shuts down the dryer when it starts to overheat. The next time you try to start the dryer, the motor won't run even though the dryer has power. The fuse is designed to prevent a fire by cutting the power to the heating element if it detects too high a temperature. The thermal fuse is not resettable, and the heating element will not function until you install a new thermal fuse. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.
